National Digital Health Mission (NDHM) comes under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
The blueprint of National Digital Health Mission was launched last year. It seeks to provide efficient and affordable health coverage through a wide range of data and infrastructure services. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the launch of National Digital Health Mission in his Independence Day speech on Saturday.
PM announced a major initiative in the form of digital Health Mission in his speech. He said that the project will provide a health ID to every person in the country, and benefit the poor. The PM said that whatever medicine a doctor prescribed, when was it prescribed, what were the reports – all this information will be linked to a person’s health ID.
The key feature:
The key feature of this mission is the technology part – it will leverage open digital system to provide high – quality health care for all. It will integrate various digital health services to create an ecosystem which can assimilate existing health information system. The government will ensure security and privacy of all ID. Many times it happens when patient lose his important blood report at home and reaches hospital in rush on time because it a day of appointment, this makes doctor to predict and judge patient’s history in absence of his blood reports/OPD/IPD papers. With the launch of National Digital Health Mission (NDHM) all papers of patient will be in one ID, will make feasible for doctors and other health care provider to check and therefore correct treatment of patient.
What is a health ID?
Every person in the country will get a digital health ID, 14 digits ID which is basically a digital format of all health records of a person which will be linked to the registry of doctors and health facilities across the country. Health ID may be in form of mobile application of website. The enrollment in this mission will be voluntary – government announced. Those who want to avail benefits of health related government plans can enroll their names in digital mission.
National Digital Health Mission (NDHM) enrollment requires Name of Patient / Person, Age, Gender, Any Ailment etc. and contact number of person. Adhar card number will be mandatory if patient want the benefit of various health Yojana of government.
Data of patient like diagnosis of patient, medicine given by previous doctor, lab reports, X-ray reports etc. will be attached to the ID. If a patient, who has enrolled his name in National Digital Health Mission, goes to another doctor (e.g. in Delhi) for treatment from previous doctor(e.g. Mumbai), his ID will be transferred to new doctor’s (Delhi doctors) registry and new doctor can find his history and all treatment given to patient easily through the ID.
