Want to have attractive personality or participate in catwalk or career in modeling? Height is indispensable factor for it.
Because the craze of good height is more in teenagers there is big scam of some money minded companies which claims to increase height with their products. But are these products really work? Are they safe and fit for health? Well, we all are living in a world of adulteration where milk is adulterated with detergent, shampoo, water, white powder etc., fruits are coated with wax and vegetables injected to ripe. If natural foods are heavily adulterated there is no guaranty for the quality and assurance of manufactured foods.
Before you get trapped in scam of “height increasing product”, first you should know that there are 5 types of bones and growth can only occur in long bones.
1.
Flat bone: They are hard with a spongy layer;
they are thin and bent or curved. Sternum and scapulae.
2.
Irregular bone: Bones that have no regularity in
shape and size. They have different shapre designed for specific purpose. E.g.
vertebrae, hip bones and bones of base of skull.
3.
Sesamoid bone: This is unique bone form out of
tendon. E.g. knee cap.
4.
Short bone: They are short and wide. They have a
primary function of providing support and stability. E.g. carpals and tarsals.
5.
Long bones: Most of the bones in the lower and
upper extremities are long bones. Long bones are which have their length
greater than breath. The long bones have two distinct ends called as Epiphysis
and a shaft called as Diaphysis. The epiphysis is made up of cartilage rather
than bones. E.g. of long bones are humerus, femur, radius, fibula, metacarpals,
metatarsals, phalanges.

Our height is determined by the height of long bones. Bigger the shaft longer will be the height. There is a growth plate at the end of long bones near epiphysis, which is soft in early age. Once the growth plate is turned into solid bone there is no scope for growth in bone length. Therefore, no matter how much companies may claim and sell their product with name of “height increasing product”, it won’t happen if growth plate closure is occurred.
Height is dependent on genetic factor of parents. If parents are tall and reached maximum of height there is no doubt in the height of offspring, whereas if parents are short and stout, the same kind of height and structure will appear in their children.
Height is dependent on diet especially during childhood. If children consume diet rich in proteins and calcium, increase in height is noted as proteins and calcium helps in building bones and muscles therefore supports growth of long bone. On the other hand if diet is devoid of calcium and proteins, at young age, formation of muscles and mineralization of bones will not occur which result into stunted height.

Exercise in young age of life i.e. before 18 years of life can bring difference in height. If parents are short in height there is no doubt that children will be short in height but if this factor taken in mind and exercised at early age, will result in increase in height. Exercise before 18 years of life, will increase the muscles and mineralization process of bones and all these metabolic process increase the appetite and thus lead to increase in height.
Yoga can help to increase the height. There are some Asana which stretches the epiphysis and metaphysis of long bones, by stretching yoga causes changes in mineralization process and signals the long bones to increase the shaft. Asana such as Paschimottanasana , ugrasan and tadasan can help in increasing height.
