Summer is on rise, IMD department submitted a report of temperature and about summer season says that 2021 will be the warmer year. Few regions of India (chadigarh, Punjab, delhi, uttar Pradesh) are likely experience the maximum temperatures that will be above normal[i].
Intake of chilled sweet milk, cold coffee, lassi, milk-shakes are among the favorite drinks to quench the thirst just like water based lemon juice, kokum juice, fruit juices etc.
Milk is very nutritious
Milk has good quality proteins, lysine is one of them. Casein constitutes 80% of the total nitrogen in milk.
Casein contains small amount of provitamins like A, D and beta-carotene. Casein contains 8.2 % of calcium & 5.7 % of carbohydrates.
Whey proteins of milk is easily digestible, it has high quality proteins like beta-lactoglobulin which is good for muscle building.
Milk is only substance which contains lactose has galactose, which is essential for the synthesis of myelin sheath. Milk has substance which drops the pH of the intestines thereby increases absorption of calcium.
Fat of milk is easily digestible. Skimmed milk does not contain any fat. Because milk has linoleic acid, linolenic acid and arachidonic acid, one should take the fat containing milk instead of skimmed milk. However, this guidelines is not a general, individuals suffering from diseases should consult before taking any dietary changes.
Minerals are present in small amounts in milk, few of them are copper & iron which develops off flavor of milk. In trace amount zinc, aluminium, molybdenum and iodine are present.
How much milk you need?
Intake of milk is therefore healthy for all age-groups as it’s a complete food which is full of vital nutrients. New born baby should be breast fed exclusively until six month, in such case there is no comparison of other rich nutrients food with mother’s milk.
Toddlers and children diet must comprise 3-4 servings of milk and milk products and adults can have 2-3 servings of the same.
Bitter truth
In today’s generation, milk we get has tinge of cruelty. Earlier due to insufficient food factory, milk was used in few varieties only (e.g. curd, ghee, and milk based sweets) & consumption was limited to the period when mammals were lactating. Food factory and preservatives has given rise to increased consumption of milk in more than 100 ways. Milk-shakes, cakes, milk chocolates, milk based biscuits, ice-creams, faloodas, cheese, paneer, milk based sweets, lassi, and butter-milk are few examples of it.
To earn maximum profits, most of FMCG companies are having milk based products, as milk appeals to the taste of everyone & most of population believes that milk is super food and needs to be takes in any form in a day. Because of which there is increased consumption of milk in every season whether our milk giving mammals are lactating or not, milk is available to every individual throughout the year.
Cruelty on innocent animals
In other words, milk is made available to us in every season
& throughout the year by these profit freak organizations who injects the oxytocin
hormone injections to cow’s & buffalo’s to produce milk constantly. This injected hormone becomes the part of milk and we consume it unknowingly, resulting into onset of many diseases like rashes, hormonal disturbances, PCOS etc. in humans.
These cows and buffaloes are kept in very small area where they can just stand and sit; they have no free space to move little bit. They are kept in shaded place where they do not get sufficient sunshine.
Cleanliness of these animals are not taken properly, they have been fed selected low cost foods which is low in energy and nutrients. “Feed sufficiently to milk giving animals to get good quality milk” this is what you and I have heard from our grand-mothers BUT are of no use in current scenario as machine which takes the milk out is put on these animals udder and constant injections are given to produce milk. Now you can imagine the quality of milk you get.
To prevent all these cruelty on our animals we need to stop over consumption or complete consumption of milk and milk products. This initiative will decline the DEMAND of milk and torturing animals can be stopped to give SUPPLY.
