Navratri celebrated during the season of spring is Chaitra Navratri or Vasant Navratri. Celebration of navratri is prevelant all across the India with different names according to region, for e.g. Gudi padwa in Maharashta, Navreh in Kashmir, Durga puja in Bengal and north India. Apart from worship of goddess Durga, homa (fire rituals), abhishek (pouring libations) etc. devotees also observe fast for nine days.

Importance of Fasting
Fasting is a practice which provides numerous benefits to individual including fat loss, sugar control, cleaning of digestive tract, removal of toxins etc. Navratri falls in between two seasons; it is a time where transition is occurring in season which affects everything in nature including our body.
