Chili is used in most of Indian gravies and vegetable dishes. It is used in making chutney, sauces, pickles, dehydrated chilies and in day to day preparations.
Dry chilies are used in seasoning. In Chinese cookery chili and vinegar are used as a side dish. Chili chicken, chili fish, chili mutton and chili sauce are also used in cookery.
They occur in different sizes, shapes and color shades. The red coloring matter of chilies is due to capsanthin. Chili adds taste to recipe, makes food palatable. Instead of taking plain salads, one can add some chili to salads, which increases the taste and makes it easy to consume.

Plant needs a warm, sunny position outside. Placing the plant outside or in sunshine helps the chili to develop the intense heat, taste and flavor.
