Benefits of chilies


 Chili is used in most of Indian gravies and vegetable dishes. It is used in making chutney, sauces, pickles, dehydrated chilies and in day to day preparations. 

 

Dry chilies are used in seasoning. In Chinese cookery chili and vinegar are used as a side dish. Chili chicken, chili fish, chili mutton and chili sauce are also used in cookery.

  

They occur in different sizes, shapes and color shades. The red coloring matter of chilies is due to capsanthin. Chili adds taste to recipe, makes food palatable. Instead of taking plain salads, one can add some chili to salads, which increases the taste and makes it easy to consume. 

Different types of chili
 Chili can be used in form of powder or as a fresh. Because of its pungent taste, chili can increase the acidity in some group of people. If acidity arise due to chili left untreated or prolonged acidity due to chili, will result in destruction of mucosal cells (burning and dying of cells of stomach); this is because of “capsaicin”. Capsaicin is a substance found in chili which result in cell destruction and give rise to other ailments. 

 

Chili plant at home

You can have organic chili, right there at your home. All that you need to do is just sow the seeds of chili in a pot. 

Plant needs a warm, sunny position outside. Placing the plant outside or in sunshine helps the chili to develop the intense heat, taste and flavor. 

Sow your chili plant in summer season as the plant needs hot climate to grow.

 

 

 

  Benefits of consuming chilies:


1.       Anti-flatulence: Capsaicin present in chili stimulates digestive system (if taken in small amount), therefore digestion process occurs completely and aid in gas problem.

2.       Detoxification : Chilies increases blood circulation. Poor blood circulation leads to toxins to accumulate in body and therefore attracts many diseases; therefore body needs detoxification to stay healthy.

3.       Sore-throat: Chili can help in curing sore throat.

4.       Prevents cancer: Chili can kill pancreatic cancerous cells, it is noted in research that vitamin C, beta-carotene found in chili fights the cancer.

5.       Pain-killer: chilies causes several chemical reactions inside our body where it causes inactivation of mechano-sensitive transmembrane channels in neurons which results in relieve from pain.

6.       Asthma: chili dilates the airway of the lung and which reduces asthma and wheezing.
