Excess body weight is a hindrance leading to breathlessness on moderate exertion and predisposes a person to disease like atherosclerosis, high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes, gall bladder diseases and osteoarthritis of weight bearing joints and varicose veins.

Etiology and possible solution:

1.      Physical inactivity: Citizens should abide the lock-down for over all benefit, however one can easily practice Exercise / Yog / Skipping / Spot jogging or any other physical activity of their own choice at home.                                                                                                                                
2.      Grazing between meals: Nibbling between meals is a potential cause of obesity, should be avoided.                                                                                                                                                    
3.      Overeating: To overcome this problem, start your meal with a bowl of salads followed by your meal, with this hunger pangs gets controlled.   
                                                                                   
4.      Less chewing time: With increase in chewing time problem of large portion size of meal automatically gets controlled.                                                                                                                       
5.      Stress: Pandemic Covid-19 is a greatest stress for all humans but prevention is a greatest weapon.                                                                                                                                       
6.     Dehydration: Less intake of water than body requires may also lead to weight gain.

1.     Alertness while eating meal is a key to achieve your weight loss goal. The trend today is using electronic gadgets while eating meals. This raises problem of overeating, nibbling and poorly satisfied hunger pangs because eating meal is just mechanical the whole brain is involved in using mobile or TV etc. when stomach gets full it sends a signal to brain to stop eating we miss the signal due to outside involvement of brain this resulting into uncontrolled eating, biggest cause for obesity.
