1] What is detoxification?
Removing accumulated toxins. Toxins are harmful substance accumulated and have undesirable short term and long term effects. 
Sluggish feeling during the day, loosing skin brightness, constipation, disturbed mood and increasing weight can be due to excess toxins in the body.

2] How Nature is getting detoxified?
Complete nationwide lockdown has imposed temporary benefits on nature. Due to stoppage of industrial pollutants and industrial waste has positive effect on water quality the Yamuna River. Many data shows that the main cities are recorded much lower levels of harmful microscopic particulate matter known as PM2.5 & nitrogen dioxide released by vehicles and power plants. Many people on social media claim to see Taj Mahal from long distance due to reduced air pollution and news channels are full of ozone layer repair with reduced air pollution.

3] Why you should detoxify your body?
Body accumulates toxic substances with sedentary & ignorant lifestyle for example despite of being aware of side effects of junk foods we grab when there is unavailability of other options of food or unavoidable drink party in office after achieving a target.
Detoxification is a type of alternative medicine treatment which aim to rid the body of all such toxins.

4] How to detoxify your body?                              
Detoxification of body means cleansing the blood. The body eliminates toxins through the kidneys, intestines, lungs, lymphatic system, and skin. Practicing Shudhhi kriyas will help body perform its functions efficiently.

5] Is there any detox diet?
Detoxification cannot be done through detox diets instead they severely limit calories, proteins and important nutrients from diet, makes body weak by draining energy and vulnerable to various infections. During this time of pandemic such low calorie and insufficient nutrient diet is not advised as it will only result into poor immunity. High protein, low fat and moderate calories diet is advised. 6] Importance of shuddhi kriya
In the text of Hath yog, it is mentioned that the body needs to be first purified through the practice of shudhhi kriyas, made free of toxins, so that body becomes efficient later practice of Asanas gives strength and makes body disease free. The shudhhi kriya help to remove waste material from our internal organs that are not easy to expel.
The main aim of kriyas is to cleanse the internal organs, help the harmonious flow of prana (breath) through the major nadis, and to purify and balance the body and mind.
Hath yog explains six kinds of kriyas: Dhauti, Basti, Neti, Tratak, Nauli and Kapalbhati.

A strip of cloth – 3 inches wide and 15 cubits long – is first moistened with warm water and then coaxed down the gullet into the stomach and then gently taken out. The process is called vastra dhouti.

2 ] Basti
What is Basti
Benefits of Basti
Sit in Utkatasan (camel pose) in navel deep water, take a pipe i.e. 6 inches long and half inch in diameter which is open at both ends, insert this inside the anus. Contract and withdraw the anal muscles so that water enters the anal passage and cleanses it. Enema can also be used.
·       Colic (Gas problem)
·       Enlarged spleen
·       Cures imbalance of vata, pitta and cough
·       Constipation


3 ] Neti
What is Neti
Benefits of Neti
Neti rubber (easily available) about six inches long, should be passed through the passage of the nose and the end taken out in the mouth. Practice massaging 2-3 times slowly.
·       Eye related disorder
·       Increases eye sight
·       Cures diseases of cervical & scapular region

4 ] Tratak
What is Tratak
Benefits of Tratak
Practitioner should gaze steadily at a small mark, till eyes are filled with tears. Small mark can be a dot on wall or flame of candle.
·       Destroys eye disorders
·       Removes sloth

5 ] Nauli
What is Nauli
Benefits of Nauli
Ever seen Baba Ramdev (Yogacharya) moving his abdominal muscles in circular movement? Exactly that is what you have to practice.
·       Removes dyspepsia
·       Increases digestion & appetite
·       Reduces belly fat
·       It dries up all disorder (Hath yog 2.34)



6 ] Kapalbhati
What is Kapalbhati
Benefits of Kapalbhati
Sit with straight back preferably in padmasan, take a long breath practice Inhalation and exhalation both rapidly and forcefully
·       Dries up all disorders of excessive phlegm
·       Brightens skin
·       Helps belly fat to shed

Note: Practice Shudhhi Kriya if you are already acquinted to these, in case if you are novice seek the Yoga teacher help first. 


Conclusion: Complete lock-down has brought precious time to you. Invest it in yourself. Work on weak areas of your body viz you can improve your flexibility, build stamina, strength etc. and above all first detox it.
